Step-by-step guides for the questions that come up in daily halal living — how to read a label, what an E-number really means, how zakat math works. Every guide points to the free tools that do the checking and calculating for you.

Most halal questions are really one of a handful of decisions: is this product permitted, how much do I owe, and when is the obligation due. The table maps each question to the guide that explains the reasoning and the free tool that does the checking or the arithmetic. The guide is the "why"; the tool is the "what" for your specific packet, city or bank balance.
| Your question | Read | Then use |
|---|---|---|
| Is this food product halal? | How to check any product | Ingredient scanner |
| What does this E-number mean? | How to check any product | E-number checker |
| Is this cosmetic or personal-care item halal? | How to check any product | Cosmetics checker |
| Is my medicine or capsule halal? | How to check any product | Medicine checker |
| How much zakat do I owe this year? | Tool-first (nisab and rates) | Zakat calculator |
| When does Ramadan begin, and what time do I stop eating? | Tool-first (lunar dates move yearly) | Ramadan calendar |
| Which direction and time is my next prayer? | Tool-first (location-based) | Qibla finder · Prayer times |
Two habits make checking reliable: read the ingredient list rather than the front of the packet, and keep the certification body's name handy — a certificate answers most questions faster than any label does. If a guide here does not cover your case, or a tool gives a result you cannot square with the packaging, tell us — the question usually becomes the next guide.
Prefer the tools directly?
The guides explain the reasoning; the tools do the math and the checking.
